Zimbabwe Attracts Tourists From The Middle East

By establishing direct air links with Dubai, Zimbabwe has further strengthened its bi-lateral relations with UAE

Z imbabwe Tourism Authority has launched a new campaign to increase its inbound tourist traffic from the Middle East countries by promoting its tourist attractions in the Arabian Gulf countries.

As part of this drive, Zimbabwe Tourism participated in the Arabian Travel Market held in Dubai. “The Middle East is an important tourist market for us,” said Gladys Dongo, international marketing manager for Zimbabwe Tourism Authority. “By promoting Zimbabwe’s immense natural beauty in the region, we are hopeful of attracting a large number of tourists from the Middle East,” she said.

Zimbabwe has many tourist attractions that include the mighty Victoria Falls, the world famous, Chinhoyi Caves, the scenic Lake Mutirkwi and an abundance of wildlife.

Travellers from the Middle East have been travelling in increasing numbers to South Africa in recent years and Zimbabwe aims to position itself as an attractive second destination in Southern Africa. Air Zimbabwe provides easy air connections between Harare and the Middle East and can play a significant role in promoting Zimbabwe’s tourism in the region. It runs three flights per week between Dubai and Harare.

“This is the first time we participated in the Arabian Travel Market and we are very happy with the response we got,” said Gladys Dongo.
